I’m Zach Heern, a late-30s father of 2 who’s just trying to follow Jesus and bring others along into that journey with me. I moved to Gainesville, Florida in the fall of 2016 to help plant a church and I hope to one day be a missionary in Central America.

Journals are wonderful and helpful for what they are, but I don’t like to write stuff down that only I will read. I like to share, especially things that I get excited about and find great joy and satisfaction in. At this stage in the game, I feel like I’ve finally “lived enough” to blog about stuff that is at least somewhat meaningful, and hopefully helpful. My hope is that you would find some encouragement here and that you would find the same things that have been helpful for me in my faith, to also be helpful for you.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 has been something I draw upon pretty regularly as a reminder for myself and it’s something I hope for and pray for myself:

Hence, the name of my blog. I think it’s fitting for what I want my life to look like, or at least one characteristic of it. I am often too self-aware, too prone to wandering, too prone to forgetting God’s promises, too prone to remembering my shortcomings and forgetting God’s grace. Only by God’s grace and power will my life look like the “righteous man” in Jeremiah 17. Therefore, most of the posts in this blog will orbit around Jeremiah 17:7-8. These posts are merely my opinions, so test them. My hope is that they would be encouraging for the Christian and helpful for the Non-Christian to see the light of the knowledge of the glory of Christ. Lastly, this blog is another way to let those who I love and miss dearly get somewhat of a glimpse of what’s going on in my life, at least from afar. Thanks for reading!
